Contract-to-Hire

Some hires are hard to judge on paper. With contract-to-hire you see someone's work before you commit, so by the time you make them permanent you know what you are getting.

Résumés and interviews only tell you so much. On contract-to-hire, the candidate does the job for a set period first. If you both want to continue, they convert to permanent on terms agreed at the start.

What's included

  • Screened contract start: candidates are screened before they start and work on our payroll.
  • A trial period on the job: you see their skills, how they work, and how they get on with the team.
  • Clear conversion terms: the timeline and terms for going permanent are agreed up front, with no surprise fees.
  • Lower hiring risk: if it does not work out, the contract ends. You are not left managing a bad permanent hire.
  • Payroll & compliance during the trial: we are the employer until conversion, so taxes and workers' comp sit with us.
  • The switch to permanent: when you convert, we handle the paperwork so little changes for the employee.

How it works

1. Define

We agree on the role, the length of the trial, and what you need to see before converting.

2. Place

A screened candidate starts on contract through Pheenix and does the job from the first day.

3. Evaluate

You watch how they do over the trial. We check in with you and with them along the way.

4. Convert

If you want to keep them, we convert them to permanent on the agreed terms.

Why Pheenix for contract-to-hire

Contract-to-hire only beats a straight hire if the trial is fair and the conversion is easy. We send candidates we would put forward for a permanent role anyway. The terms are written down at the start, so there is no penalty for converting. During the trial we stay in touch with both sides, so small problems get dealt with before they end the placement.
